Costa da Lagoa, Florianopolis
(4.8/5 based on 2,000+ reviews on the web)
The small village of Costa da Lagoa, on Lagoa da Conceição, can only be reached by boat or by winding forest trails. The village's remoteness and simplicity give it the feeling of a lost civilisation. Private speed boats can be rented, but the simplest (and cheapest) mode of transport is to use the same taxi-boat as the villagers do. Along the way you can stop off at one of the many waterfront restaurants with their own jetties. At the village itself, you can explore the forest trails, visit the tiny church, cool off at the waterfall, or simply talk to the friendly locals. Just make sure you don't miss the last boat back to the mainland. • After running about of 15 kilometers from the English where he was lodged, by a road surrounded by trees "looks like you're crossing a forest" arrived for a road from Earth to a pier where several boats make the crossing of the Lake over a period of approximately 15 minutes. The "island" is not actually an island, is surrounded by the pond in front and through a forest and mountain behind, is bucolic and quiet, its residents do not know exactly why, but the feeling is that time passes more slowly there. I asked my wife, who after retirement I would spend at least six months there to download the crazy pace of the big city, which was promptly rejected by her. There are a few restaurants on the edge of the pond soon on arrival after the crossing where you can take a good beer accompanies by several portions or even lunch, we walked by the local malls and before we get back to the "mainland" parted with a good caipirinha accompanied by a delicious serving of shrimp.

  • Walk the trail of Costa da Lagoa is like walking between friends. People are very kind, friendly, chatting with tourists, they give information. I like it a lot!

  • Location accessible only by boat or trail there are a good number of restaurants, a trail leads to the waterfall. Is ossivel talk to local residents. Environment that preserves Azorean customs.
