Praia do Leão, Fernando de Noronha

4.7
#5 of 21 in Parks in Fernando de Noronha
Frequently listed in “Top 10” lists, this is the wildest of all Fernando de Noronha’s beaches, and the least busy. More often than not, when you visit it will be just you and a lonesome lifeguard at his post. Located on the southeast side of the island, when you look out at the “outside sea” you can’t help but notice the beach’s namesake, a large rock formation resembling a sea lion in repose. Praia do Leão has the highest rate of sea turtle spawning in the area, and while there are heavy regulations in place to protect the animals, it is possible for you to witness the hatchlings make their way over the reddish sands to the ocean. The raw beauty of Praia do Leão makes this awesome event all the more special. The color of the sea is a gorgeous blue, the beach is beautiful too, has a stone that looks like a sea lion lying down, give the name of the beach is deserted, the water is crystal clear and the sand is red, has tamar project there, and is the largest center of spawning of marine turtles, but recommend only for contemplation and relaxation as it is very dangerous the sea is very choppy, is deserted, has rocks, the drowning there is high, but I didn't dare.

I thought one of the most beautiful of Noronha, the color of the sea is perfect ... just is quite dangerous, I dared not enter ... but is perfect to contemplate the nature

The view it is one of the most beautiful ... too bad we couldn't go in the water. The sea was very choppy and typically is not a beach for bathing. But the view makes up for it.

Where to stay in Fernando de Noronha

The bad news is that, if you're on a budget, your trip to Fernando de Noronha might be starting to look a whole lot more expensive than you'd planned. Accommodations on the remote archipelago are understandably expensive, as all food and supplies have to be specially shipped in. All lodgings are on the largest island, Fernando de Noronha, which is the only one permanently inhabited in the archipelago. The majority of options consist of guesthouses and boutique hotels concentrated in the center of Vila dos Remédios, the island's town. However, look a bit farther outside of town and you can find some excellent eco-resorts and beachside accommodations.
