Praia do Cachorro, Fernando de Noronha

#6 of 21 in Parks in Fernando de Noronha
Beach Nature / Park
The calm waters of Praia do Cachorro are translucent emerald green and the beach is soft sand or pebbles depending on the season. Breathtakingly beautiful, it sits below the ruins of Vila dos Remédios. The name comes from a bronze fountain in the shape of a dog’s head that no longer exists, but the fresh water spring still flows. A naturally formed plunge pool called “The Hole in the Galacian” can be found in the rocks surrounding the cove. A snorkel lets you admire the colorful sponges covering its walls. Overlooking the beach, you will find the lively Bar do Cachorro, serving delicious food and cold beer. • I think it's the busiest beach of the island with regard to number of tourists and bars .... still very calm because that's the spirit of noronha. There is the hole of the Galician q is beautiful to take pictures!

  • Beach with restricted access, a large staircase, when it rains it gets very slippery until you reach the stairs.

Where to stay in Fernando de Noronha

The bad news is that, if you're on a budget, your trip to Fernando de Noronha might be starting to look a whole lot more expensive than you'd planned. Accommodations on the remote archipelago are understandably expensive, as all food and supplies have to be specially shipped in. All lodgings are on the largest island, Fernando de Noronha, which is the only one permanently inhabited in the archipelago. The majority of options consist of guesthouses and boutique hotels concentrated in the center of Vila dos Remédios, the island's town. However, look a bit farther outside of town and you can find some excellent eco-resorts and beachside accommodations.
