Landmark Tourist Spot
Walk around the famed fort and its defensive system of walls built by the Portuguese in the 18th century at Forte De Nossa Senhora Dos Remedios. The walls are 2.9 m (9.5 ft) high, and 3.5 m (11.5 ft) wide at the base and 3 m (10 ft) at the top, and at its peak the fort had 27 cannons, some of which you can still see. Climb to the top of the 11 m (36 ft) tower in the centre of the fort and see all the way to the neighboring islands. You'll enjoy particularly beautiful views of sea around sunset. • Turning left after climbing the staircase to the beach of the Dog you can start a beautiful trail or find this wealth of details with obligatory stop for photos and a delicious picnic.

  • Unpretentious descend another track, next to the Church, in Vila dos Remedios, and then a climb to get to the Fort of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios. Better not go alone and preferably in the morning, when the Sun is more lenient. Upstairs, ruins. A deserted place. A pity there is no restoration, or commitment of the Government of our country to preserve and maintain suitable to tourism this site. I confess that this space should be preserved for Brazil's army, replacing at least the country flags that are torn. The Fort is Beautiful. Should have signage, plaques with historical information. There are only traces, including wrong regulars who use drugs and drink, leaving trash in the area. A shame. The view from up there is breathtaking. From there, thanks to project biologists "spinner Dolphin" we spotted two groups of 300 dolphins in the Bay of Porto. It was an amazing ride.

  • A beautiful place where you can watch the lovely sunset.
  • There's a great sunset over there!
  • 👍👍👍👍
  • Very interesting to see the remains of the fuete_prision, located in a strategic place in the island. For many decades it housed the prisoners who built the cobblestone streets of the village. You can see the remains of rooms and cells, as well as cannons and remnants of walls. Beautiful views of the beaches and the rock.

Where to stay in Fernando de Noronha

The bad news is that, if you're on a budget, your trip to Fernando de Noronha might be starting to look a whole lot more expensive than you'd planned. Accommodations on the remote archipelago are understandably expensive, as all food and supplies have to be specially shipped in. All lodgings are on the largest island, Fernando de Noronha, which is the only one permanently inhabited in the archipelago. The majority of options consist of guesthouses and boutique hotels concentrated in the center of Vila dos Remédios, the island's town. However, look a bit farther outside of town and you can find some excellent eco-resorts and beachside accommodations.
