Forte De Nossa Senhora Dos Remedios, Fernando de Noronha

Walk around the famed fort and its defensive system of walls built by the Portuguese in the 18th century at Forte De Nossa Senhora Dos Remedios. The walls are 2.9 m (9.5 ft) high, and 3.5 m (11.5 ft) wide at the base and 3 m (10 ft) at the top, and at its peak the fort had 27 cannons, some of which you can still see. Climb to the top of the 11 m (36 ft) tower in the centre of the fort and see all the way to the neighboring islands. You'll enjoy particularly beautiful views of sea around sunset. • The Fort is abandoned, but still worth a visit. It is loud and has a wonderful sea view. You can see a part of the island with its humble and beautiful houses. Like almost everything you do on the island is pleasant enough.

  • An odd place. Have a spectacular view of the island of Fernando de Noranha. Can I enjoyed the view of some of the beaches such as praia do meio, praia da Conceição. And a wonderful view of the port of the island.

Where to stay in Fernando de Noronha

The bad news is that, if you're on a budget, your trip to Fernando de Noronha might be starting to look a whole lot more expensive than you'd planned. Accommodations on the remote archipelago are understandably expensive, as all food and supplies have to be specially shipped in. All lodgings are on the largest island, Fernando de Noronha, which is the only one permanently inhabited in the archipelago. The majority of options consist of guesthouses and boutique hotels concentrated in the center of Vila dos Remédios, the island's town. However, look a bit farther outside of town and you can find some excellent eco-resorts and beachside accommodations.
