UFMG Instituto Casa da Glória Igc, Diamantina
(4.4/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Built at the end of the 18th century, UFMG Instituto Casa da Glória Igc is a beautiful building with a rich history. The most striking feature is the blue bridge, built some time after 1867, in order to connect the building with the house across the street. Over the centuries the building has served as a private residence, the home of both politicians and bishops, and as an orphanage run by nuns. Today the building is owned by the Institute of Geosciences of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, and contains a small geological exhibition, as well as some information about the building's history. • The House of Glory belongs to the IGC, UFMG. Its main current use is host researcher and serve as a basis for scientific activities. The House has large spaces for exhibitions and a good Auditorium. The trademark is the bridge that connects the two parts of the House. It is picturesque.
