  • Best of the churches of Diamantina and mandatory stop point to any visitor to the region. Located next to the forum, lacks internal visit, since the outside is quite simple. The interior has the most beautiful ship liner among the churches in the region, a masterpiece about Elias. There is a small Museum of sacred art with frescos and exquisite sculptures of local artists from the colonial period, most of them unknown. The tower is only located on the back of the Church, at the behest of Chica da Silva. They say the legends of the town it was a whim, since Chica didn't want to be disturbed by the bells of the Bell, but the most accepted theory is that it was a way to circumvent the law that forbade blacks and mestizos crossing the towers to enter in the churches. With the Tower in the background, nobody needed to cross it to attend masses, so blacks started hanging around the interior of the temple. Great!

  • The interior of the Church is a pleasant surprise for those who visit. Built by John Fernandes to Chica da Silva, the Church is simple on the outside, but very rich on the inside ... is by far the most beautiful of the city. Reflects well the maxim of Brazilian Baroque, that inner beauty is the one that matters. The highlight is the 18-century copy only in Brazil! It was completely restored with the help of outside experts, who taught a few places to operate it and touch it. The sound is unique, and brings us to a quite unique. The Church promotes periodic concerts, which are absolutely not to be missed!!

  • We arrived and I needed the bathroom attendant indicated the path, the bathroom is next to the church cemetery, with graves in drawers in the wall and other 3 or 4 on the floor, a cemetery well modest in size, but with members well. The Church is Baroque colonial style that begs for restoration. The visit is paid and with an unpretentious look 30 minutes of visitation.
