Casa da Glória, Diamantina

(4.4/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Built at the end of the 18th century, Casa da Glória is a beautiful building with a rich history. The most striking feature is the blue bridge, built some time after 1867, in order to connect the building with the house across the street. Over the centuries the building has served as a private residence, the home of both politicians and bishops, and as an orphanage run by nuns. Today the building is owned by the Institute of Geosciences of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, and contains a small geological exhibition, as well as some information about the building's history. Put Casa da Glória on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Diamantina vacation route planner.

  • Outside churches, it is difficult to see such good preservation. Not a lot of furniture, since it was turned into a college for some time. But saved a piano, a reliquary and the famous bridge, bridge in life and torment of girls. The visit is free, has a 5-minute audio-visual and worth at least do a photo outside.

  • Glory House is connected to another building by the famous Boardwalk, kind of closed bridge built when there worked a boarding school for girls. The Museum is Rico of information about the history of the mansion and the region during the 18TH to the 20TH centuries. Must-see for the Diamantina.
