Parque Barigui, Curitiba

4.7
#3 of 15 in Parks in Curitiba
Besides refuge for animals, Parque Barigui is also a natural preservation area within the city limits that offers many activities and opportunities to connect with the locals. You and your family can stay active with amenities including fitness equipment, paddle boats, playing fields, trails, skating rink, and a BMX track. An onsite bistro serves lunch and dinner, or you can cook your own food at one of the park's grills. The native forest surrounding the lake (formed by a dam) is rich in flora and fauna, like orchids and 200 species of birds.

As you approach the lake, you may catch a glimpse of the Barigüi alligator who sunbathes on the lake's shore--but there's no need to worry because this reptile has never bothered any visitors during its lifetime in the park. The grounds provide a home for the Automobile Museum, a Steam Train Station, an exhibition park, an amusement park, and a helipad where you can charter a lift in a helicopter. • Very large park, we love the ride, great space to run and play soccer, ideal for the whole family

  • Loved the Park. Super clean, impressive, with infrastructure to receive people. There is a restaurant on deck of the Lake and the attendants are great and super attentive with the public. The Park has tb kiosks if families want to organize barbecue and picnic. I was willing to live in Curitiba to come strolling. As a suggestion I think they could make another bathroom. There was only one, and the Park is very large. Ahh ... visit the Apiary of stingless bees. Very graceful.

  • Every year I do walk in the Park, and this year the same, is impeccable with respect to cleaning and maintenance. A good option is the location of electric bicycles, and the sugar cane juice, too, is excellent.

  • Amazing park to go with friends, family, dating, or just by yourself. It doesn't close at night. You can practice jogging, skateboarding, bicycling, whatever, cos' it has proper tracks for bikes (or similar) plus tracks for running and other one for walking. This park can be a little bit crowded, but that's what you can expect because it's one main park in Curitiba
  • Great place to walk, ride bike, run, and also have a good time with Friends eating and drinking!
  • My favorite in Curitiba. You can walk more than 5km in only one loop. Avoid weekends afternoon's when the place is really crowed.
  • Excelent place to have a good moments and a contact with the nature...
  • Excellent place to walk and do some exercise.

Where to stay in Curitiba

Wherever you choose to stay in the city, you'll be able to get from place to place on your Curitiba itinerary in a breeze, thanks to the rapid bus transit system. Most higher-end hotels sit in or very close to the city center, especially along the pedestrianized main street of Rua XV de Novembro. Stay here if you want quick access to the best shopping strip in town. You can look slightly out of the center, in the neighborhoods of Batel and Seminário, to mingle with the city's posh crowd. Curitiba's continuing growth in popularity with younger tourists means you can now find any number of budget youth hostels, mainly concentrated in the center and inner suburbs.
