Marumbi State park, Curitiba
(4.8/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web)
Take a train ride though the rainforest to Marumbi State park, home to several specimens of centuries-old native trees, like ipês, araucárias, and jacarandás. This park is often described as a "hiker's delight." An experienced guide can lead you through this lush area to cascading waterfalls and rivers teeming with a diverse plant and animal life, all the way up to Pico Marumbi, a towering peak over 1,500 meters (5,000 ft) high and offering a panoramic view of the entire region. These trails are steep and can take several hours to traverse, so comfortable shoes are a must. Bring lots of water and a light snack, and spend a day in a verdant region rich with flora and fauna found only in this part of the world. • The Park is compulsory passage during the train ride and offers wonderful scenery. The buildings and some points along the railroad are also important scenarios in the history of the Paraná and Brazil.

  • In General, everyone knows the Park "in passing", just passing by train en route to Morretes. For those who enjoy nature and hiking, it pays to get off at the station Park to walk the trails and have lunch there (provided you take food!). Typical program of backpacker, but when the weather is dry the sights and trails are not to be missed. What makes it difficult is the current price of the train ticket.

  • To make the train ride is something spectacular, beautiful scenery of the Atlantic native forest with its biodiversity. Great ride, it's worth it.
