Inspirock Rating:
1/5 based on 75+ reviews on the web
Situated right by the renovated riverside port area, Museu do Rio features displays and exhibits of the changing face of the river ecosystem, and a small collection of local Pantanal fish. Erected in 1899, this simple rectangular building once served as the city’s fish market. Today the museum/aquarium is also the center of art and culture for this entire region. The idea here is to preserve the history of the capital of Mato Grosso through photographs, crafts, works of religious art, and models depicting the development of this urban center from colonial times to the present. Make this a brief stop on your tour of the city, and drop by the popular restaurant, conveniently located inside the building. Plan your visit to Museu do Rio and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Cuiaba trip generator.

  • The Museum has been very cool for day trips with the family, but this somewhat abandoned and the neighborhood is also a little dangerous

  • Walk with friends, the place is nice, good tourist spot for those who like to fish, however weak, leaves much to be desired when it comes to a region so rich in aquatic fauna the site is without maintenance for a long time.

  • It is a pity that one of the attractions Cuiabá is closed for renovations, the edge of the river is all in the works and that leaves with a sense of abandonment and the Museum was not different. ... worse is the Aquarium q only see chaos .... disappointed .... the only thing that saved the trip to the Harbour was the food of the regionalissimo.
