Estrada Parque do Pantanal, Corumba
(4.4/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Cutting across the vast, tropical wetlands of the Pantanal, Estrada Parque do Pantanal crosses more than 200 bridges, and includes a ferry ride across the Paraguay River. Unlike the dense foliage of the Amazon, the open expanses of wetland are perfect for spotting the abundant local fauna. The ecosystem of the Pantanal is extraordinarily diverse, with around 1,000 species of bird alone. Six observation points along the road provide information about the wildlife of the region, and many roadside restaurants, inns, and ranches provide respite for the weary traveller. • The farms have advanced a lot in 15 years (my first visit). Sad to say that the barbecue we eat destroys the bugs. In November is not the ideal time to view the bugs but it's ten. Jabiru, herons, several other birds and some alligators. I was fortunate enough to see an Anaconda cross the road calmly. It's worth a lot. There's no gas station in any excerpt. Fill in Miranda. Money for the ferry crossing in port costs 45 real mango and does not accept. Don't miss to visit the pantanal before it is completely degraded by humans.
