Locomotiva, Conservatoria
(3.2/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
A beloved symbol of Conservatória’s history, you will find Locomotiva at the entrance of the city. Between 1920 and 1935, it pulled the passenger and freight wagons between Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais, before being replaced by the automobile. Up close, you can admire its mechanisms, which were highly advanced for the times. Among its most famous passengers were Joubert Cortines and José Borges de Freitas, musician brothers who today are considered icons of the city’s musical culture. Saved from the scrapheap, restored and repainted, Locomotiva made its final journey, rolling into Conservatória to great fanfare and a ballad, written and sung by José Borges for the occasion. Put Locomotiva on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Conservatoria trip itinerary maker.

  • Beautiful locomotive, great for taking pictures but don't run it. The city itself is quiet and attractive, if you like, are the SERENADES.

  • Worth taking funny pictures, and you can make several. Is a 1920 locomotive retrieved and placed wherever she went a train line, today a remote past. Why get in the way of the Center, and be one of the landmarks of the city is really nice for pictures ... just for this same. Kids love. don't waste a lot of time on it ... go to the waterfalls.

  • Children, adults, or is the whole family can have that souvenir photo that sits at the entrance of the Government and without problems will be able to take pictures, pretty cool.
