Conservatoria

4.1
A small town of 4,000 close to Valenca, Conservatoria enjoys a level of cultural interest disproportionate to its modest size. Its name likely refers to a reputation as a "conservatory of the Indians"--a place popular with the native population because of its good climate and protected location in the mountains. As a colonial hub in the production of coffee, Conservatoria experienced a boom period, evidenced today in its fine colonial buildings. While much of the town's wealth has been lost with rural migration, tourism in Conservatoria has in a sense preserved the traditions from the colonial period; most memorable are evening serenades of romantic music in the moonlight. Conservatoria is in State of Rio de Janeiro (RJ). With our world travel planner, Brazil vacations can be built around trips to Conservatoria and other destinations in Brazil.

Where to stay in Conservatoria

Four main roads lead into the town, and along all of these you'll find a good selection of simple bed and breakfasts, as well as larger hotels with ample grounds and good access to the surrounding natural highlights. The modest town center offers a nice selection of two-floor bed and breakfasts, with little to distinguish between them apart from the attractiveness of their interiors and a small fluctuation in price. Generally speaking, the areas outside of the historical core have lodgings with more services and amenities, while in the poky town center area, there's little to tell accommodations apart from residences.
