#4 of 20 in Nature in State of Espirito Santo
National Park Nature / Park
Unspoiled nature and dunes of soft sand surround Parque Estadual de Itaunas, a conservation area giving shelter to hundreds of species of exotic plant and animal life. The park’s great biodiversity is scattered over a landscape of forests, marshes, mangroves, salt marshes, wetlands, and several pristine beaches. Scientist working in this area aim to protect and catalog the various species living in this fragile ecosystem, which UNESCO declared a World Heritage Site in 1991. Though this park covers over 25 kilometers (15 mi) of coastline, just 5 kilometers (3 mi) can be accessed by the public. In this area you can learn about the native wildlife, hike the nearby trails, or enjoy a quiet sunset on the beach. Using our international travel planner, Itaunas attractions like Parque Estadual de Itaunas can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Dunes, beach, trails, rivers, lakes, wonderful inns and gastronomic variety. All in a cozy and peaceful place. The Park is administered by the State Institute for environment and has to cater to tourists.

  • The Park is very beautiful. Insect repellent, sunscreen and plenty of water to ensure a smooth ride through the dunes.
