(4.5/5 based on 900+ reviews on the web)
Chapada is a Brazilian word that means a region of steep cliffs, usually at the edge of a plateau, and it is for these geological formations that Chapada dos Guimaraes National Park is named. With so many of these red, rock formations, panoramic vistas and cascading waterfalls abound. As you explore the park, you will find the dense rain forest gives way suddenly to Cerrado--vast tropical savanna--, and vice versa, like stepping into another world. Explore the park's cave systems, stand at the geographical center of South America, visit the brilliant blue lake which gets its color from microscopic bacteria, or simply enjoy the various flora and fauna, including tropical birds such as macaws and king vultures. • There are beautiful places in the Park. The waterfalls are great, the only downside is the need for accredited guide to visit anywhere. Prices are not the most inviting for those who travel alone. This fact has positive and negative sides. The good news is that the preservation of the Park is huge, the bad is that you must spend at least 150.00 per day with a guide to visit the finer points.

  • I really enjoyed the Park seemed a bit abandoned. The three waterfalls that went from the fridge and Hornet were paid (around 10.00 each)

  • The Park is very large and most of the attractions and tours is required the presence of a guide. The landscape, waterfalls and other ecological attractions are spectacular. Spend hours admiring the sites. Suffers the abandonment. The support structures are enough degraded or abandoned. Has had reports of thefts, mostly in the parking lot. Avoid leaving objects on display inside the car. Anyway, it's required to know.
