Prainha Beach, Caraguatatuba

#5 of 31 in Things to do in Caraguatatuba
Beach Nature / Park
Prainha Beach offers calms seas and warm sands in a peaceful setting far from the tourist crowds. Shallow waters and small waves breaking against the sand make this beach a favorite of families with small children, who can easily learn how to swim here. You can also explore a short but fairly steep trail, leading up to a series of overhanging cliffs, which offer a sweeping view of the sea and the beach immediately below. Several food kiosks operate right on the sand, but you can also find a few restaurants not far from the beach. Also nearby is a small square with a water fountain and plenty of parking space for beachgoers arriving early in the day. Where to stay in Caraguatatuba

As you'd expect, the beach is the place to stay in Caraguatatuba. A multitude of hotels and beach resorts line the curved coastline, most of them with swimming pools and a range of other creature comforts. Look along Avenue Dr Artur Costa Filho for easiest access to the city's largest and most iconic beach. For budget accommodations, look inland to the neighborhood of Prainha. On its narrow streets you'll find an abundance of small guesthouses offering competitive prices, and they're still only a few minutes' walk from a palm-lined beach.

  • A good beach to enjoy with the family. It has restaurants, infrastructure the sea is calm. The Pedra do Jacaré is a great place to visit.

  • A good beach with light waves, great for kids. The only thing I didn't like was that the water seemed a little dirty at the time we went, I don't know if it's like this all year.

  • Prainha. Ideal for water sports, infrastructure for kayaking, banana boat, good to sail because its waters are almost without waves. Structure of kiosks, much natural shade from trees. You can also go to other beaches on the right side by water because the sea is very shallow especially if the tide is low. The left side has the trail to the pedra do Jacaré. Careful not to venture out and jump off the rock, because it is shallow. Beautiful view and the beautiful island! At night the Prainha becomes magic, all lit up.
