Massaguacu Beach, Caraguatatuba

#7 of 19 in Parks in Caraguatatuba
Open, breezy, and with a broad, distant horizon, Massaguacu Beach creates an overall impression of spacious relaxation. With only sparse vegetation backing onto the sand, the beach has a much more uncluttered appearance than many other beaches in the region. It’s worth bearing in mind that the water here gets deep quite quickly. It's not a good beach for swimming (beach of tombo). But the look is beautiful. In these days of winter the sea wins a special trait that makes me happy every time I look.

I was staying in a hotel in front of the beach of Massaguaçu. The beach is the kind that sinks fast (tombo) and with strong currents. Has a narrow strip of sand. Some days the sea was very choppy and the waves break hard. I ended up going to another beach. The good is that it has a bicycle trail and Boardwalk. But I didn't see any place to rent bikes. The site has a few kiosks and are scattered, one far from another. But the sea is amazing.

However I couldn't find attractive to sit down and spend the day to go with kids and bad because the waves are very strong.

Where to stay in Caraguatatuba

As you'd expect, the beach is the place to stay in Caraguatatuba. A multitude of hotels and beach resorts line the curved coastline, most of them with swimming pools and a range of other creature comforts. Look along Avenue Dr Artur Costa Filho for easiest access to the city's largest and most iconic beach. For budget accommodations, look inland to the neighborhood of Prainha. On its narrow streets you'll find an abundance of small guesthouses offering competitive prices, and they're still only a few minutes' walk from a palm-lined beach.
