Pinheiro Grosso park, Canela

(1.4/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web)
On the road between Gramado and Canela, spare half an hour to visit Pinheiro Grosso park, home to an astounding Araucaria tree that is 700 years old. Walk the trail to see more native pine trees, characteristic for this part of the country and unlike the vegetation most casual tourists expect to see in Brazil’s rainforests. Ecotourism is very popular in this region and there are many opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, and river rafting. You can spend a rainy day taking a relaxing walk on this park’s well-kept scenic trail. Umbrellas are handed out at the entrance. Use our Canela trip itinerary builder to add Pinheiro Grosso park and other attractions to your Canela vacation plans.

  • The main attraction of the Park is fairly Thick Pine, a pine tree Thick (thick), with more than 500 years. Kids love holding hands to try and embrace the pine.

  • I have read some reviews and comments that in the park only has a pine tree Araucaria ... the name of the Park is Thick Pine Park, logically the biggest attraction is the pine tree. I regret that the travel agencies and tour operators, especially the locals, don't give the value deserved. In the region there are only two pines of Araucaria multi-secular a on the way Lawn/Nova Petrópolis and this in Cinnamon. If we know that this pine had more than 100 years when Cabral arrived in Brazil, maybe never comment that you see a pine tree and a witness and a survivor of the timber cycle from the beginning of the century.
