Flor do Vale - Alambique e Parque Ecologico, Canela
(4.4/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
Amidst breathtaking scenery, you will find Flor do Vale - Alambique e Parque Ecologico, where you can learn about the process of distilling cachaça, Brazilian rum. The place lies in a valley near Canela and has a yellow bus that leaves from the central square of the city every day. You can reach the distillery by car as well and there is a parking lot on site. Upon arriving, stroll down the natural path through the surrounding woods. The visit begins, with or without an accompanying guide (upon request), using the signs and explanations available in each building. The infrastructure is comprised of five different buildings, with areas for production, ageing and bottling, as well as a restaurant and an emporium selling all related product lines.

The guides take you through the whole process of making cachaca, which is completely natural. You can taste the different types of rum and even make a bottle of custom rum to gift someone. Be sure to schedule enough time to have lunch at their restaurant offering delicious food at great prices. For a little adventure, you can even try your hand at crossbow shooting. • The best rum, I ever made in my life! Balanced, soft, high quality. Customer service and wonderful place. Unmissable. A bit away but worth it.

  • Because of the weather we were unable to make the visit. But we were very well attended and the products are of quality.

  • The ride on Flo of the Valley splits into two steps. The first is about the manufacturing process of the cachaça. The visit is not guided, but each step has explanatory boards and costs 15 reais per person. The second step, which is already included in the value, it's a ride to meet a beautiful waterfall, offering a panoramic view in a gazebo and, also, the opportunity to descend to the base of the waterfall. At the end is offered tasting of cachaça Vale flower. On the date of the visit, the restaurant was closed.
