Catedral de Pedra, Canela

Extremely photogenic Catedral de Pedra is one of Brazil’s finest examples of the English Gothic architectural style. This Cathedral of Stone, as its name literally translates from the Portuguese, features a tower rising 65 m (213 ft) into the air, and includes a carillon of 12 bronze bells imported all the way from Italy. The interior is decorated with painted canvases created by the gaucho artist Marciano Schmitz, who used three panels to depict the sacred "Apparition of Our Lady." Also included are several paintings by Uruguayan artist Pablo Herrera, noted for using wood and clay in his works. Try to time your visit for the evening hours, when the building becomes the centerpiece of a colorful light show. Beautiful building, all in stone, beautiful countryside, many tourists, and many vendors (mostly of meal). Thanks for stopping by.

Voted one of the seven wonders of Brazil in 2010, it's not actually a cathedral is a parish. Construction began in 52, with Gothic feature and 65 meters high wall and your stone floor basalt of extraordinary beauty, imposes a gleaming landscape. It is worth being there!

The stone church of Canela is a tourist stop, is quite different and wonderful architecture. I went during the morning of the first time and thought it was beautiful, where yielded beautiful photos, but to know that enlightenment was the night, came back on another day during the night and I was impressed, the lighting was not too long ago for reforms and let the Church even more beautiful Moreover they make hourly attractions from 20:00 hrs with game of lights to the rhythm of music, very cool. A beautiful attraction that yielded more images fine. Besides, have many nice shops around, where I brought some pampering. Worth checking out!

Quite a fast place to see, and it is a landmark at Canela, so hard to miss. I like the architecture of the place. Good photo place.

Very pretty on the outside. Ugly and very dull on the inside. Kinda like someone you know... It's barely ok. Not all that you read on their ads. You can drive by it, but I wouldn't waste time going in.

Thanks to its popularity among younger tourists looking for an outdoor adventure, Canela offers a particularly impressive range of budget lodgings. Hostels and simple guesthouses abound, most in buildings that fit with the town's traditional architecture. You won't find any large hotels or expansive resorts in Canela, though higher-end accommodations exist in the form of warm, cosy villas with pleasant gardens.
