Made entirely of compressed clay, Nossa Senhora da Conceicao Metropolitan Cathedral is considered one of seven wonders of Campinas. Finished in 1883 by local architect Ramos de Azevedo, this church took nearly 70 years to be completed. With a Neoclassical façade, the building features a Baroque-style interior, with notable wooden furnishings, Austrian pews, silver chandeliers, crucifixes, and hand-carved alters. The internal decorations are made from special dark jacaranda wood, native to this area. The four bells in the main tower are a century old. Step in on a hot day for a quick visit, or time your city tour to arrive for Mass. • Located in the center of Campinas, there are certain contrast which drew me much attention. First, find a truck parked a few meters from the door was not expected to see, so as not expected encontarrme safely in private of the convent. The surrounding area is full of homeless, something that from what I saw is very typical of these areas of Brazil, and a detail that can make you hesitate to go once the sun goes down. Inside, nothing out of the ordinary. Indeed quite austere compared with other metropolitan cathedrals. It is a "visit" that can be ignored if your idea is to only make tourism
