  • The Campinas Municipal Observatory Jean Nicolini (in partnership with the Centre of Capricorn until 2001) is an astronomical observatory located in the district Joaquim Egidio, municipality of Campinas. History: the Observatory was opened on 15 January 1977 and receives around 12000 visitors and students per year. In 1992, it was added to the name of the Observatory Jean Nicolini (1922-1991), in memory of dissemination of astronomical science enthusiast in Brazil and founder of civil society Observatory of Capricorn, entity that uses the physical space of the Municipal Observatory for joint action. Has four telescopes, with distinct characteristics, with a 0.5 m telescope is used for activity with public and schools because of its versatility in handling. Location: the Observatory is located on Mount Urania, in the Serra das Cabras, close to the town of Morungaba, at an altitude of 1,033 m. The Municipal Observatory has a telescope of 600 mm, and a motorized dome. The place opens only on Sundays. Access to the Observatory is made by José Bonifácio Coutinho Nogueira Highway. In the vicinity of this, to avoid prejudice to visibility due to heavy traffic, the road is not paved.

  • An unmissable ride, the observatorio is outside the city of Campinas, I believe some 30 km away, so worth going to because it will have unique moments. Attention rain forecast the Observatory does not open, stay tuned also to power no power infrastructure
