San Matheus Fort, Cabo Frio

(4.2/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
Built into a rocky outcropping off the coast, this military installation once used for defense now gives visitors an ideal spot for ocean views. San Matheus Fort defended the settlers near this chunk of coast from threats on the water. Today, it is a landmark that attracts passersby from all over the world. You won't find a museum or guided tour, but the breeze on your face and the sea slamming into the rocks below make this a good location to take in the beauty of the country's coastline. • You have a lovely view of the ocean and the beach, good for taking photos. But the place is a bit abandoned by the city, missing handrail on the staircase and has some graffiti. The keepers also bothered.

  • has an incredible view, but it's a place that it's no big deal, should have something telling the history of the place, I found it quite poor. the view is beautiful, easy to access, but no big deal, in addition to being poorly maintained.

  • The view that has being in strong is beautiful, to register great photos. However the location this abandoned, there is no structure for visitors. the bridge of access this eroded and damaged. There is a risk of falling when accessing the rocks to get to the top of the Fort.
