Morro do Arpoador, Cabo Frio
(4.8/5 based on 55+ reviews on the web)
For that postcard-perfect picture of Cabo Frio, head to Morro do Arpoador. It requires a short walk, but the commanding view of crescent-shaped Praia do Forte beach below is worth it. Located near Forte Sao Mateo (the Fort of St. Matthew) in Boca da Barra, Morro do Arpoador marks the point where Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci established the first trading post in Brazil in 1503. In addition to the vista, you might glimpse sea turtles and even penguins if you visit in winter. If you're traveling by car, you'll find parking near the fort. Using our custom trip planner, Cabo Frio attractions like Morro do Arpoador can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Impossible not to visit, gives us a broad view of the sea, is right next to the Fort, which yields beautiful photos.

  • I don't believe half of the evaluations that did this die here, in fact it is adjacent to the Fort and has no hard track. The short way higher up, is all paved and reaches a gazebo. Very easy and enjoyable. The coolest part of the Hill of the Striker's right next to the Fort, where scale some rocks (some more adventurers take advantage to jump into the sea). The location is wonderful.

  • Beautiful place to do a track and have this spectacular view in front of the Hill, take pictures here is indispensable! It's worth it!
