Japones Island, Cabo Frio

(3.4/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
Known to be a quiet nook in a busy area, Japones Island is a small resort with thatched food kiosks where you can sit down for a peaceful meal. Fresh fish is caught and served up in the traditional style here. The water along the beach is quite shallow and calm, making it a popular spot for families with little children. Farther up the coast you can find deeper waters for swimming and scuba diving. Boats can also be rented for sightseeing along the Itajuru Channel. Nearby trails attract ecotourists and casual hikers, as well as locals picnicking in secluded spots along the shore. When the tide is low, you can take a walk straight across the channel, from the island to the mainland. • The place is very nice. You can reach on foot when the tide is low. On the island itself, there is no structure whatsoever, but nearby there are restaurants with varied menus. Parking costs 10 reals, and is very close to the island. It's a very socially democratic attraction.

  • The place is pretty nice, and great for small child. Water shallow enough, quiet and warm. However, there are a lot of seashells and my son complained. There's plenty of Siri in the region.

  • The island of the Japanese possess easy access on foot. And has a good infrastructure with public parking and a few kiosks near the trail that goes to the brave beach. The island is ideal for those who will enjoy the beach with children, at the entrance to the Canal Boulevard, so has no waves and is a great place for stand up paddle.
