The fantastic Inhotim museum of contemporary art infused into the botanical garden setting. Exhibits explore the spatial relationships between landscape and art by allowing artists to and exhibit their work in the unique conditions of forest landscapes, gardens, and rural environments. The collections include 500 pieces by more than 100 artists from 30 different countries. The main focus is on contemporary arts produced from the 1960s to the present day, including sculpture, installations, paintings, drawings, photography, films, and video. Two tours include the free thematic tour with two focuses on environmental and botanical aspects, and the other focuses on art. The sightseeing tour covers many areas within the park with a focus on landscaping and the placement of outdoor art exhibits. • Highlight of my trip in Minas Gerais so far. I had the most amazing day exploring Inhotim. There’s a bus service which leaves the main bus station at 8:15 and then brings you back at 5:30 every day...  more »

  • The park is nice and well kept. Some interesting and beautiful architecture, ponds, trees and flowers. They have good food at the self serve restaurant, but the place is busy at lunch time. There are interesting exhibits, but quite a few seem to be under maintenance and temporarily closed at any given time. Unfortunately, and maybe surprisingly, I don't think the park is very family friendly. There is a traffic problem, which takes some of the fun out of the experience. I am referring to the numerous electric cars for personal transportation, whizzing around the trails. It's good that they provide a mobility solution for the many, many physically challenged people visiting the park, but the way they do this is very hazardous to pedestrians. Especially to the children playing and running around. The cars are almost silent, so you can't hear them coming. It shouldn't be too difficult to fix this by fitting some contraption providing artificial noise, like they do with many electric cars. They should also drive with the headlights on at all times. The very young employees should also adjust the vehicle speed when passing pedestrians, and they should pay attention to the job instead of their phones, I witnessed a boy driving one of these cars at full speed, barely missing young children on the path, while texting on his phone, eyes firmly fixed to the screen. This is insane, and there will be a serious accident soon, if nothing is done to prevent it. I have serious doubts if I will feel comfortable taking my kids back for another visit, or international guests visiting BH. Please find a solution to this issue before something bad happens.
  • Great place to visit, will definitely take at least two days to see everything. On our first day we made it through about 1.5 of there 3 paths without hurrying.
  • Only for lovers of "modern" art. The surrounding gardens are beautiful and very well maintained but the art was very boring, especially considering that the place is about 2 hours by bus from Belo Horizonte, it was hardly worth the effort. One food/drink establishment was selling contaminated water in refilled bottles! Beware!
  • One of the most amazing and inspiring places to visit and spend time in, not only in Brazil but in the entire world.
  • The most beautiful museum and botanical garden. With several installations of contemporary artists and a natural showroom of tropical plants this is a must visit place if you’re anywhere near, such as in Belo Horizonte. On Wednesday the entry is free, so you can save R$40 and use it in their gift store which has some cute stuff. Go early to make the most of your visit. From Belo Horizonte there is one direct bus that takes 2 and a half hours. Check it’s route and hours through google maps.
