Famous cases of national significance handled by Supremo Tribunal Federal include transfer of the royal family and Portugese nobility to Brazil in 1808, during the invasion of the kingdom of Portugal by French troops led by Napoleon Bonaparte and the extradition of the extradition of revolt leader Luis Carlos Prestes and the injunction filed by President Café Filho. Designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer, the court building is open for public to attend trials. A tour allows access to the plenary meeting halls as well as a small museum that tells the story of the evolution of the Court.   • I was digging around in the region and I couldn't even get near the building of the Supreme Court because he was insulated with metal grills. I think it was the only building with these characteristics.
