Panteao da Patria, Brasilia

(3.5/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
As you approach this National Heritage site, you will be struck by the impressive, dove-shaped building; designed by Brazil’s beloved Oscar Niemeyer, it is a classic example of his distinctive, modernist style. Inside Panteao da Patria, you will find the Steel Book statue, on which are engraved the names of the nation’s heroes, each of them ardent advocates of freedom and democracy. There is also a collection of artwork, including Athos Bulcão’s poignant red mural and João Câmara Filho’s black and white panels. The beautiful stained-glass window by French-Brazilian artist Marianne Peretti, who used purple, red, and white--representing introspection, passion, and peace respectively--to create a symbolic map of Brazil, provides you with a thought-provoking focal point. • Small museum, with enough information about Tancredo Neves and a tribute to the heroes of the fatherland in the upper deck.

  • The building, which is located in the Plaza of the three powers, is impressive and with typical curves of Oscar Niemeyer. Inside, on the first floor, has a beautiful tribute to Tacredo Nair, that counts quickly and synthetic life of what would be the first civilian President after the 1964 coup. The acquis is chilling, and with a very emotional video about the death of Tancred and how was the seizure of the population on that moment, as well as represents well hope that the population had. On the second floor there is a space that should, or should receive events, but was empty. There is also the book of national heroes, being interesting reading, because several of the names that are listed in forgot the existence. Maybe it's good to think about what it means to be a national hero.

  • For me the homeland Pantheon is just a monument, which has brought nothing striking, beside has a museum dedicated to Tancredo Neves, poor information.
