Architectural Building
Part of the landmark Complexo Cultural da República, National Library houses a collection of 300,000 items, many of which are rare copies of works by some of Brazil’s most respected authors. This modern structure, easily accessible from any part of the city, is made of white concrete and was designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer. Inside the library’s reading rooms and auditoriums guided tours can take you through the history of this country, as well as the development of its modern literature. Make it an educational outing for your children on a rainy day, or spend a lazy afternoon reading or catching up on your mail--free internet access is provided inside.   • The Library is designed by Carlos Niemeyer, as well as the other builings in the vincinity. It is free to enter and really large.  more »
