Part of the landmark Complexo Cultural da República, National Library houses a collection of 300,000 items, many of which are rare copies of works by some of Brazil’s most respected authors. This modern structure, easily accessible from any part of the city, is made of white concrete and was designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer. Inside the library’s reading rooms and auditoriums guided tours can take you through the history of this country, as well as the development of its modern literature. Make it an educational outing for your children on a rainy day, or spend a lazy afternoon reading or catching up on your mail--free internet access is provided inside. • The building is very beautiful, with a bold architectural design. It's not very difficult to park. The staff is courteous. But the collection is disappointing. I've seen bigger and better collections preserved in small towns of the interior. To be the National Museum would need to have at least three floors full of books and other media. However, I saw only half floor, with few books and with very old works (years 80 and 90). Worth a stop of 10 or 15 minutes, or a photo in front of the building.

  • The library is next to the National Museum. Has a beautiful architecture and imposing on the square in which is situated. However, without great attractions in your interior. The visit lasts 10 minutes.

  • Is one of the buildings, not linked to federal administration more beautiful, perhaps second only to the Cathedral and the National Museum. I was a long time looking at the building and imagining the amount of interesting stuff that should be in there. Unfortunately I didn't have time to enter.

Where to stay in Brasilia

Choosing where to stay during your trip to Brasilia can be somewhat difficult. Due to the city's distinctive layout and lack of a historical "center," accommodations have developed in clusters. By far the best range of options surrounds the distinctive green space of Jardim Burle Marx, in the city's two planned hotel districts. You can also find a good selection of lodgings around Vila Planalto, the city's designated political district, which sits not far from Brasilia's main lake. Wherever you decide to stay, make sure it's within reasonable distance of a metro station or bus stop--you'll want good access to public transport in order to easily navigate the city.
