Jardim Botanico de Brasilia, Brasilia

4.4
#4 of 10 in Parks in Brasilia
The wilderness-like feel of Jardim Botanico de Brasilia makes it unlike any other “botanic garden” you have experienced. The profusion and variety of the local flora and fauna represented creates the perfect atmosphere for many different activities. Take a long walk or go for a bike ride along the trails or have a picnic with the family at the tables under the trees. The small research station not far from the main entrance (at the end of QI 23 on the right) is informative and the staff is always willing to answer questions, serving as a learning opportunity for all. Take photos at the gazebo and visit the sensory garden to breathe in the smells of the plants. There is so much to do among the beautiful landscape and clean air of this nature reserve. Jardim Botanico de Brasilia is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Brasilia Edition.

  • The site is next to an APA (deer head) and the richness of diversity in the Cerrado. Lies between the towns of Lago Sul and São Sebastião. The entrance is very cheap and allows access by any person. Has a central base with service to the population.

  • Terrible service from the first second. Breakfast, previously booked, it took about 1:00 to arrive! We ordered the "garden 1" and came cold egg, father of withered cheese.. that why it costs 56 reais. It started to rain and I was the first one to tell the clerk you would need to use the mezzanine! Was with elderly and baby lapdog. The clerk simply ZERO pro active let everyone pass in front of us and we get 10 people standing around a table for 4 people. Or excuse they gave us. Just let customers arguing and ignored the fact. I'm never coming back.

  • Affordable price, tranquility and peace of a forest. All areas of the Botanic Garden are great, but my favorite is the playground and picnic area. The Park was renovated recently and offers great fun and entertainment for children. The picnic tables were also reformed and are great for a tour, lunch and rest (have place to put network, it takes you out of the House). Recommend carrying trash bags to package the waste that you produce and help in conservation. Have bathrooms coming, but when I do, take SOAP and towels for personal use. Children can ride a bike, walking trails and has a close still has a very nice Diner, if you prefer not to do. Very good, will several times during the year.

  • Good brunch restaurant, nice walk in nature, family friendly, good fun for kids.
  • Rather boring and poorly maintained botanical gardens. All of the orchids were dead when I visited. The one good thing about this place is that it's virtually empty, so you can enjoy this expansive nature reserve all to your self. You might as well walk around nude.
  • Great weekend stroll. Big spaces (Orchid garden, Japanese garden, gazebo overlooking the city etc.) and a nicely upgraded restaurant for a relaxing brunch style meal.
  • Good getaway from modern life. Lotsa plant and animal species!
  • Great place to know the local flora with nametags on almost every tree and a nice cafe at the center.

Where to stay in Brasilia

Choosing where to stay during your trip to Brasilia can be somewhat difficult. Due to the city's distinctive layout and lack of a historical "center," accommodations have developed in clusters. By far the best range of options surrounds the distinctive green space of Jardim Burle Marx, in the city's two planned hotel districts. You can also find a good selection of lodgings around Vila Planalto, the city's designated political district, which sits not far from Brasilia's main lake. Wherever you decide to stay, make sure it's within reasonable distance of a metro station or bus stop--you'll want good access to public transport in order to easily navigate the city.
