  • In the receptive one can observe a good amount of Red macaws that go there to feed. Before we left, we watched an educational video. The trip to the cave is made by suspension bridges above the Woods. The guide will explain about the fauna that can be seen on the site. In the cave, in addition to the rock formations, bats is observed and, hopefully, other animals like owls. Care must be taken not to tread. The back is through the Woods.

  • The cave is interesting (for those who like it). The infrastructure for visitation is good. The experience as a whole leaves a feeling of holding quite commercial. The staff are attentive and our little guide in particular was quite unpleasant.

Where to stay in Bonito

The main town in Bonito provides a good range of accommodations to suit diverse tastes and budgets, with everything from luxury resort-style hotels to backpacker-friendly hostels dotting the gridded urban area. Heading east out of the main town, a few remote pousadas (guesthouses) lie along the course of the Rio Formosa. Pre-booking is essential, particularly during peak season (July and December to March), because of the relatively small number of options available for an ever-growing demand.
