  • Azores House, built in the 19th century, now houses the Ethnographical Museum which is part of an important architectural set the time of the Portuguese immigration on our shores. The Museum has a very simple collection that includes furniture, domestic machinery and devices, clothing, canoes and various pieces for the preservation of the culture of the Azores. In addition, the site around is suitable for a walk or picnic.

  • For those who are passing through Santa Catarina, through BR 101, North to South, has the opportunity to visit the Ethnographic Museum Home of the Azores, which lies on the right bank. The mansion built in the first half of the 19th century and refurbished in the second half of the same century, retaining the aspect of residence, with some furnishings of rooms and living room. It also has a permanent exhibition of period clothing, since common military costumes. There are some interesting objects that reveal the habits of the time, as the canes used by men of the old village of San Miguel (now Biguaçu-near Florianopolis). Another object which struck me as interesting in my visit was a small cannon that has immediately above the following registry: XVII. It would be a piece of the 17TH century? Is doubt. The institution also has pieces of old flour mills, photo exhibition of the customs of the old locals, descendants of the Azores. Regretted the fact that the Church, which is next to be closed to visitation. The responsible staff is attentive, and the place has surveillance system with cameras on the outside for those who leave their car parked in the yard. the Museum also regretted not having the day any booklet so that you can take home and read a bit more about the place. Note: there are some very interesting models left over the old village of São Miguel (Biguaçu) and also some strong that protected the coastline between SM and Desterro (Florianopolis). Good visit!

  • The Museum is to the side of the BR101 road at km 189, is a museum that tells the story of immigrants açorianos who came to this part of the continent and the island of Florianopolisn by the year 1750. In that time them islands of Açores were passing by a period of crisis economic and the King of Portugal, sends to them settlers to these lands, the Museum has photos of them places historical of the island and the Mainland, a room with elements made in clay, is can see the clothing typical of them Portuguese and there are environments of the House that are organized with furniture of time they have a room with models with the main economic activities of that time. The House has a space dedicated to the Rendeiras and the renda of stud, a craft that I came to these lands from the Azores Islands house belonged to a family that dealt with the marketing of slaves in the 18th century
