Art Museum
With over 2,000 artifacts, the permanent collection in Museu De Artes & Oficios presents a tactile display of the ingenuity and creativity of the Brazilian artisans pre-industrialization. As you examine the collection, notice how beautiful many of the tools were, despite their mundane purposes. The museum occupies two restored railway buildings, joined by an underground tunnel. The active train track running through the middle of the property is used by thousands of commuters daily. The creation of the museum has helped spur the revitalization of the square outside the museum, which sponsors regular cultural events. • The memorial carries through photos, videos and especially of objects, the origin and evolution of crafts and arts in Brazil. The origin, evolution, and if exercise given art or craft is "told" through the many objects (which appear to be original and we can say that they are very well done replica) employed by that art or craft in the performance of its activities. There is a wide variety of objects to illustrate each one of them. There are also many good interactive multimedia equipment next to the exposure of objects with a lot of information, stories and facts about them and your job in the given trade. It causes you to really learn and understand about what you see there. However, the signs of the objects and the volume (too low) of multimedia equipment leaves a little to be desired, but anything that diminishes the quality of exposure that is very charming. As for signs of objects, it is worth noting, too, that the description in the explanatory label them often do not bring the information for serving and how is/was used. This information, in most cases, could be found later, diluted in the audiovisual, iconographic and textual, photographic, but it would be interesting if the information came immediately after viewing the object. The way that the stacks are distributed is well organized and didactic. The exhibition is all divided by type of craft: transport, navigation, fire, metal, aluminium, etc. The staff is excellent. Are always willing to clarify and explain any questions regarding the exhibition and collection. The place is pretty clean and the building is very beautiful. Works in the old train station and to this day, both the freight train as passengers, passes between the buildings, which consists of two annexes. You feel at a train station while visiting the exhibition, which gives a good feeling of back in time. It is necessary to go with a lot of time if you want to make the most of all the knowledge and learning that the memorial provides about the arts and crafts that are structuring of our society or are responsible for the emergence of many professions. And is very worthwhile disponibizar this time! The exhibition is beautiful!
