3.6/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web
Built by renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer - and therefore worthy of a visit for its architecture alone - and part of his Pampulha Architectural Complex, Museu De Arte Da Pampulha was once the hub of 1940s Belo Horizonte nightlife in its previous incarnation as a casino. However, in the aftermath of the outlawing of gambling in Brazil, the Cassino da Pampulha became Museu De Arte Da Pampulha, a multipurpose contemporary art museum that boasts a collection of approximately 1,600 works. Although the highlight of the collection is perhaps the work of Alberto da Veiga Guignard, you’ll also find pieces by numerous other prominent modern artists. Be sure to complement your artistic exploration with a stroll through the museum’s gardens or a stop off in the library. • The building is an attraction in itself. On the outside it appears to be simple, but internally has many details. I found very interesting the dance hall.

  • An integral part of the architectural ensemble of the Pampulha, elected world cultural heritage recently, the Museum of art is a beautiful attraction. In Kubitschek, was designed by Niemeyer and their gardens by Burle Max. Former casino, the Museum is today the scene of events, art exhibitions and musical concerts. Worth a visit.

  • Very interesting Museum to visit, because it was designed by Oscar Niemeyer and that means "work of art". On the brink of Lagoa da Pampulha, the Museum is beautiful inside and out: in the back you can get very close to the water and take several pictures of the landscape; and the rooms within the Museum are very beautiful. Visit the Auditorium which is inside the Museum-for a change, Niemeyer left a curiosity in the acoustic environment.

  • Very modern place, breath taking architecture and landscaping. You will find a variety of modern pieces and contemporary art inside the museum.
  • The modern museum is part of Pampulha's architectural complex and one more exemple of Oscar Niemeyer 'avant garde' work. Its gardens by the lagoon and the view deserve pictures. Look for informations about the project Domingo no Museu (Sunday at the Museum) and you'll have your best sunday morning in BH. The first sunday of each month the museum has a concert at the big saloon, always with eclectical artists that play the true brazilian music.
  • There's not much to see here. It has two floors and they mostly have street art from independent artists. The building itself looks really nice and has a great view to the Pampulha lake.
  • Nice view but not so great art.
  • Muito bacana
