Casa Do Baile, Belo Horizonte

Categories: Architectural Buildings, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web
Part of the "Pampulha Architectural Complex" that brought architect Oscar Niemeyer international acclaim and popularity in the 1940s, Casa Do Baile was designed as a small restaurant/dance hall, built on its own artificial island. It includes a circular block from which a free-form marquee unravels, following the contour of the island. After the building’s completion, this free-form design became wildly popular in Brazilian architecture, adding to Niemeyer’s already enviable global reputation. The site is close to the Pampulha Art Museum and is a must-see for all lovers of modern architecture. Don’t leave before walking down to the nearby lagoon, where you can take photographs of this key cultural area and its important landmark. • Interesting site for its history and the exhibitions it offers to the visitor. Worth the visit and the view of the lagoon, and also enjoy the exhibitions that take place in space.

  • Interesting prominence you give this location. In my view the peak has passed and went down in history. Could do more events/attractions and value!

  • The location is very nice, but very small. The Pampulha architecture where you can take nice photos at dusk.
