Praca da Republica, Belem

Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
3.7/5 based on 900+ reviews on the web
You get a true sense of Belém’s history when you visit Praca da Republica. The beautiful neoclassical Theatro da Paz, epitomizing the golden age of the rubber trade, is considered one of the 14 most beautiful jewels of Brazilian patrimony. The European-inspired architecture of the Theatro Experimental Waldemar Henrique and the Art School of the Federal University of Pará provide you with Amazonian culture both past and present. At the center of Praca da Republica stands a 20 m (66 ft) tall Carrara marble monument commemorating the proclamation of the republic in Brazil. The Sunday morning craft market attracts crowds of locals, but during the week Praca da Republica is less busy. Within its confines, you feel far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city and can laze in the shade of the mango trees. • place is cozy, with cultural differences clearly visible, more has a problem, it's a little dangerous because it had many people living in the street.

  • It's a nice place to hangout. Not very clean but not too bad. Every sunday there is a sale in the park where you can buy all kind of things.
  • Como todas as praças de Belém, centenárias porém mal cuidadas e esquecidas pela prefeitura. Merecem uma maior atenção.
  • Precisa ser revitalizada, como várias outras coisas em Belém.
  • It is one of the plaza more beautiful city it stands the statue of the Republic, representing Brazil. The plaza is home to two of the main theaters of the city, such as theatre peace and Waldemar Henriques. The Sunday develops the market square where you can find products and souvenirs at a good price. In the square many of the political and cultural life of city activities. Good place to spend the afternoon and take some air so warm here. Note: be careful with valuables, not walk the square in the evening, if there is no activity.
