Bosque Rodrigues Alves - Jardim Botanico da Amazonia, Belem

4.0
#4 of 10 in Parks in Belem
Stepping off one of the busiest streets in Belém into Bosque Rodrigues Alves - Jardim Botanico da Amazonia is like stepping into another world entirely. The botanical garden is a 150 sq m (1,615 sq ft) rectangle of preserved rainforest, dropped in the middle of a city. More than 80,000 species of flora and fauna can be found in the garden, including some animals in captivity--many of which are endangered--but also many more that live wild amongst the trees. Forget about the bustle of the city for a while, and lose yourself instead in the peaceful buzz of jungle life. • Nature only has to add filter, clean air and the contamination of the day to day cars etc is a very nice place, full of biodiversity of flora and fauna, educational trails. Very pretty!

  • It is a truth, unfortunately. But, we have a breath: will be memorable moments for posterity. It's a walk to family, friends, business-why not? With absolute certainty, will be the tour! It has trails everywhere, several treasures of our fauna and flora, navigable Lakes, places to stop for lunch, casual presentations of artists of the Earth, besides being the ideal place to clear your mind, rethink views, vent! Is very worthwhile! Highly recommended!

  • Beautiful nature, loved to see it in the middle of the city! Not really into encaged animals, but the flora is just overwhelming. Just lacked the famous Castanha do Pará tree :( but it's totally worth...  more »

  • The park is very nice being surrounded by city. Is having a hard time running without having proper funding. The animals all seem well tended and not like other parks I have been to such as the now close Rio zoo. Take time to enjoy walking nice clean level trails in the shade. You walking among many old growth trees. Many now are very rare trees. I look forward to returning tomorrow to walk the trails again.
  • Heart of the city, the best place in town to experience the one of a kind Amazon Forest feeling right in the middle of a major urban area. Definitely a must see.
  • We were enchanted by this beautiful glimpse of life in the rainforest. A whole day there simply raced by - and the entry fee of 2 reais was incredibly good value.
  • A piece of town in the midle of Belem, you can see a lot of species plants and trees typical birds as arara , tucano and animals as quati, turtles and jaguatirica. Very nice experience!! just avoid empty and dark space, because of safety it is better to go in groups.
  • Too much garbage and gate closes whenever employees decide to close. It says 4pm on the website, but today (Aug 27) they closed at 3:45pm.
