Belem Metropolitan Cathedral, Belem

Categories: Churches, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.7/5 based on 900+ reviews on the web
The two bell towers imported from Europe and the brilliant white exterior of Belem Metropolitan Cathedral are just a prelude to an ornate interior with polished marble floors, stained glass, and geometric patterns on the walls. It also features paintings of saints in golden frames, 18th century screens, ten altars, and 28 bronze chandeliers. A French organ of 19th century is a true treasure of the history of Belem. • I found the Church beautiful and very well preserved. The square in front is also very nice and well cared for.

  • The Cathedral is very nice with interesting details. Must-see. Next door is the building of 11 Windows and walking a little bit more on the market "view the weight".

  • Worth knowing but have to be patient since it's hard to come in as it is most of the day closed. There was no information of timetables.

  • I'm a fan of the churches and the Cathedral of Belém is among one of my favorites, is a work of art that combines faith and art in one place. In October, dressed in party by the Cathedral of Sé receives the Círio de Nazaré.
