Aldeia Hippie, Arembepe

3.2
#3 of 6 in Things to do in Arembepe
Mick Jagger and Janice Joplin once found inspiration at Aldeia Hippie, a hippie community just 30 kilometers (19 mi) from the state capital. The site, located near a small town, can be reached by a short bus ride. Nearby, in an area of unspoiled nature, you can also visit a TAMAR Project station, dedicated to research and preservation of sea turtle species threatened by extinction. Just beyond the station is a large camping area, situated on top of a sand dune and surrounded by native coconut trees and colorful thatched roofs of small huts. You can pitch your tent here and then walk to the nearby river, where you can swim, kayak, or sunbathe in complete privacy. • The hippie village has a really cool story having been visited by Jannis Hooker, frequented by Caetano, Gil, Pepeu and Baby of Brazil, but unfortunately things were lost, violence has arrived and the village also suffered with it. TODAY HAS IMPROVED a BIT, but I'd say it's a place you visit watch rounds. Don't circulate with cell phones cameras and valuables exposed. Not by the people who truly love the place, but for people who filter in place and end up destroying the beauty of the place.

  • The Hippie Village in Arembepe is a beautiful place and with a special energy. At the entrance is the Tamar project. (currently closed with reopening scheduled for December). You walk about 200 meters by the beach or dune. In the Centre the shed where the Hippies expose their work, Cristina is a sympathy, the Ranch Janis Joplin, the little School Boy Light, where children have art classes, French and English, the Rest and Roque's Bar, where you eat a great stew, the huts of the villagers. All this between the coconut trees and beautiful vegetation. One side of the dune is the sea, beautiful and almost deserted beach where depending on the tide form several natural pools. The Capivara, where you can bathe in quiet waters with a paradisiacal vision. Single note in Arembepe learn how's "wave".

  • I don't know if I was in a good period because the place is beautiful, but you have to improve a lot for support and other things for tourists. The beach is very deserted and without support for tourists.

  • Pretty cool. The visitors stay in direct contact within the houses, with the daily life of the residents, with nature has a fair inside the village where they sell items they produce.
