Categories: Churches, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
3.7/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web
A white, neoclassical centerpiece for the city, Metropolitan Cathedral stands as a memorial to Our Lady of the Conception. Visit the cathedral's interior to enjoy the murals adorning the ceiling and its grand architecture, realized in 1875. Since that date the church has served as a respite away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but if hustle and bustle are what you're looking for then walk around to the right side of the cathedral. There you will find a number of cafes and shops to peruse and enjoy a late afternoon coffee. Make Metropolitan Cathedral a centerpiece of your Aracaju vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Aracaju family vacation planner.

  • It's sad to see the Cathedral look so careless externally. Inside is beautiful and well cared for. A fine example of architecture and invites reflection and prayer.
