Metropolitan Cathedral, Aracaju
(3.6/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
A white, neoclassical centerpiece for the city, Metropolitan Cathedral stands as a memorial to Our Lady of the Conception. Visit the cathedral's interior to enjoy the murals adorning the ceiling and its grand architecture, realized in 1875. Since that date the church has served as a respite away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but if hustle and bustle are what you're looking for then walk around to the right side of the cathedral. There you will find a number of cafes and shops to peruse and enjoy a late afternoon coffee. Make Metropolitan Cathedral a centerpiece of your Aracaju vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Aracaju family vacation planner.

  • Is a historical building that needs more care, is in need of urgent reform on the outside. Inside, depicts the colonial architecture, with beautiful panels and details that only a well prepared can keep true to the author's work.

  • It's a beautiful church inside but on the outside didn't caught my eye, I think it needs a paint job.

  • For those who like to know churches places they travel the Cathedral is the best option for those visiting Aracajú. The Church is ancient, but very pretty, full of stories, including, if I'm not mistaken, old priests are buried inside the Church.
