Historic cities of Sao Cristovao and Laranjeiras, Aracaju

(3.6/5 based on 480+ reviews on the web)
Travel back in time to the Historic cities of Sao Cristovao and Laranjeiras where expansive, cobblestone plazas are bordered with simple, orange and yellow-colored buildings. Stroll the streets, past locals traveling by mule and cart, and image yourself a town local heading home after church for a family meal in a rustic kitchen. In Laranjeiras, look for a church with a tower called Morro do Bonfim Hill. Walk toward the church and ask a local about the keys to the tower, they will point you towards a family home near the church's entrance. Knock on the door and politely ask to be let into the church. Once inside, climb the tower steps until you reach a lookout. It provides a wonderful view of the town and surrounding area, the same view that many a priest must have seen, unchanged after almost two centuries. Our Aracaju vacation generator makes visiting Historic cities of Sao Cristovao and Laranjeiras and other Aracaju attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • The city is abandoned, has some local guides that bother you because they want to force you to follow. Lack information. Even the official tourism agency has nothing useful. Too bad, because the city is historic and deserves more attention. But well worth going up there to meet and buy the works of the craftsman Nivaldo Oliveira. Sensational, I Recommend.

  • Old buildings and architecture very admirable, but has very few tourist attractions at night, in addition to a few restaurants.

  • Despite having visited the historic town of são Cristóvão (Monday) I can't assess why the main attraction the Chiesa Madre (mother church), and other places like the convent where mother teresa of Calcutta took up residence, also were closed.
