Setor Historico, Antonina

3.7
In 2012 the local government acknowledged the historical importance of Antonina by making its Setor Historico (Historic Sector) a heritage sight. The region was one of the earliest areas explored by the Portuguese Crown in southern Brazil, and the town owes its early prosperity to gold mining in the area. Take a walk down cobbled streets with colorful colonial houses on either side, visit the three historic churches, including the Church of Our Lady of Pilar, dating back to 1714, and try the regional dish, Barreado. Although much smaller than Morretes, worth circling for a good minute, noting the location and surroundings. Well maintained and well painted. Among all the note inside!

Cobblestone streets with houses alternate with some Portuguese restaurants and inns do the historic centre a great place to walk, especially if you go to the pier. Bucolic, don't go forward, because it's a small town.

Antonina is a small town with historic buildings and not much preserved. The area near the Church. It's very hot walking the streets almost empty.
