Setor Historico, Antonina

(100+ reviews on the web)
Historic Site Tourist Spot
In 2012 the local government acknowledged the historical importance of Antonina by making its Setor Historico (Historic Sector) a heritage sight. The region was one of the earliest areas explored by the Portuguese Crown in southern Brazil, and the town owes its early prosperity to gold mining in the area. Take a walk down cobbled streets with colorful colonial houses on either side, visit the three historic churches, including the Church of Our Lady of Pilar, dating back to 1714, and try the regional dish, Barreado. Plan to see Setor Historico and other attractions that appeal to you using our Antonina vacation route planner.

  • Many historic buildings, including a chemist around the corner from the Pousada that is said to be one of Brazil's four oldest chemists!  more »
  • Curitiba destroyed most of its historic heritage in the name of progress. It was a beautiful, full of character city in the 1940's, now, tacky buildings with no sense of colour and harmony.  more »
  • When we were going on a festival of drums. We can appreciate the local culture. Beautiful handicrafts and performances.
