Parque Nacional da Chapada dos Veadeiros, Alto Paraiso de Goias
Categories: National Parks, Nature & Parks
Gorges that call to you with the sweet sound of a shallow river and eye-popping waterfalls that drown the river out with their powerful descent; all of it is at Parque Nacional da Chapada dos Veadeiros. This is also the home of Moon Valley with its scooped rock formations that create natural water slides. In fact, UNESCO declared the park a World Heritage Site in 2001, so the 1.8 billion year old forest will be protected for all time. The protected land hosts thousands of visitors each year, but the wilderness is expansive enough that you may never see them. Wear your best hiking shoes, a pair that handle both dirt paths and rocky passages, and bring snacks and water for the trek. Consider shacking up in nearby Sao Jorge where the inns are simple and clean, and the locals are friendly. Put Parque Nacional da Chapada dos Veadeiros at the forefront of your travel plans using our Alto Paraiso de Goias tour planner.

Is in the District of St. George, a 20 min drive from alto paraíso. It has several tracks, very well flagged, you don't need a guide (but you can hire), as we were 4 friends went on their own. We chose the trail of canyons. 10.5 km from muitoo up, down, big rocks, Pebble, sand. It was the most grueling trail of all I did on high. Must have physical preparation, or thinking of doing with children or elderly people (seriously, it's too heavy, we spend hours walking around with no shade, water reaches delirious hear sound of waterfall, mas que nada ... come on and nothing lol) you have to take a lot of water, preferably frozen (because of so much walking in the Sun the water heats up quickly and don't even think about putting in those the little pocket that are outside of the backpacks, you won't be able to drink from so hot), most importantly, save water for around ... a lot more grueling. 2 bottles of 500 ml for each person to say the least, I'd take more. Go to tennis, of course, and preferably with those long-sleeved blouses that have sunscreen. If it was today I irira until pants rsrsr, arrived with the whole leg "lanhada", only the arms have been preserved because of the blouse, outside the Sun is hot lol. You literally have hours that walks through the Woods. I arrived with my foot in misery rsrsr. But if it's worth it: a LOT. The first waterfall, the Carioca is simply beautiful and the view of the canyons wonderful, can take work there too. My Tip: take a little bit in the waterfalls, to relax because you walk much, but who dreams of this moment to find water. rsrrs.show original

if u come to Brazil its a must go place. there is a lot of green, wild life, awesome waterfalls and rivers. its a cheap place with a lot of interesting options. English is spoken in some parts of the place due to the huge number of foreigners that visit or come to live there.
Surely one of the best National Parks in all of Brazil. There is easy access to plenty of waterfalls, thermal springs, weird rock formations and naturally hundreds of hikes in the area (most of them outside of the officially declared park limits). The best base to stay is a hotel/pousada in Alto Paraíso de Goias as from there you'll have access to either side of the park and main roads. I, personally, don't recommend to make São Jorge your base camp as the place is dusty and lacks infrastructure. No asphalted roads and the food in town is pretty bad in comparison to what you find in Alto Paraíso de Goias.
Beautiful and not expensive
Definitly a must see place in the region. Raw nature with hills and many waterfalls.
