  • We were in the cave and waterfall do Itambé yesterday, but we were disappointed with some of the issues. The place is easily accessible and the dirt road to get to the cave is very good. On arrival we were greeted by a vigilante who was very friendly and guided us on local rules, which are: it is not allowed to enter with backpacks, bags, food and drink. The car was in the parking lot and we followed the walk by a shaded trail and very quiet, it can be done quietly by children and the elderly. After about five or ten minutes of walking the trail, we reached the cave, the view outside is very beautiful, but there began our disappointment when we encounter with garbage thrown in the grass (little bottles of water and snacks). Upon arrival was told that was not allowed to enter with some items, as I've mentioned, but there in the cave we find several people with backpacks, food and drinks ... I confess I didn't understand, since rules should be for everyone! I fully agree with the rules, because they help in preserving the area and make the environment even more attractive and secure for visitors and the animals that live there. When we entered the cave, we saw some signs limiting access to some areas, but again, we encounter people who ignore such limits and make your visit unpleasant. The walls of the cave are all scribbled by many visitors who find it nice to write their names in there, but as the walls are fragile, are being degraded and losing your original form. The altar built inside the cave is one of the only things that was not "rabiscarda". Following the trail, we went toward the waterfall. She is very tall and the water drops down a wall of rocks very well, but has little water and is not an appropriate place to swim, is more for contemplation and pictures. In cacheira we don't get five minutes, the place was full, had families with food, bags, a lot of people in the water screaming, anyway that made it impossible to sit over there in the shadows to admire the view for some time. Anyway friends, my visit was very frustrating, we were in search of peace and quiet, but that's not what we found. Each day that passes, I disappoint with the bad manners of some, who don't know how to deal with rules and not collaborate to maintenance and preservation of places like this.

  • The cave contains written in 1920, as a property of the family Meireles they retain the site and open for visitation, you can go to the waterfall that, depending on the time of year, may be big or little water flow, everything depends on the rains! Very beautiful! There works like pousada and FDS serve lunch! Very good food!
