Initially established by local residents concerned about the welfare of the area's wildlife, Moremi Wildlife Reserve represents an important conservation center dedicated to controlling hunting and exterminating poaching. Covering an area of approximately 3,900 sq km (1,505 sq mi), the reserve rests on a vast seasonal floodplain, where many stationary and migratory animals find a temporary or permanent home.
