A historical memorial, Three Chiefs' Statues presents three bronze sculptures of leaders who helped Botswana gain independence. These 5.4 m (18 ft) tall figures of Khama III, Sebele I, and Bathoen, stand tall on three plinths describing their role in asking the British government to grant them autonomy in 1895. One of the most visited tourist attraction in Gaborone, the monument site is also a venue for popular public events like the Miss Botswana pageant. Inaugurated in 2005, the statues were built by a popular North Korean company.
