#2 of 6 in Parks in Gaborone
Learn about Botswanan animals at Gaborone Game Reserve, a small wildlife conservancy in the suburbs. Proximity to the capital makes this reserve a popular picnicking getaway where you can observe some wildebeests, impala, bush bucks, elands, kudu, zebras, ostriches, gemsboks, and warthogs. Established in 1988 to raise awareness about wildlife among the urban population, the reserve covers 5 sq km (2 sq mi) but has many observation areas. A variety of birds such as kingfishers, flamingos, and hornbills are particularly notable. There are picnicking areas, a game hide and a small education center. You can drive through the reserve without a guide. Gaborone Game Reserve is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Gaborone Edition.

  • Located in Gaborone, this nature reserve offers a breath of fresh air from the hectic city life. There are camp sites with sitting areas and braai stands for people to come enjoy a bit of quiet time. There is wildlife in the area in the form of monkeys, ostrich and other small animals. While in the park be aware of the monkeys they can be a problem for campsites
  • Impressive. Just in town to do game drive. Do not expect to see the big 5 animals. But you can expect so see many other animals. Best of all: it is very, very cheap, you can drive with your own car and there are almost no other tourists there.
  • Great for a lil game drive but there is not much variety of animals one can see along the way even though it is mentioned it's home to a variety of animals
  • It was great visiting this reserve. Only issue I had is that it has less animals to see. It is great for a family picnic though
  • A great picnic area, family getaway and a place for some random wildlife view
