Andricgrad, Visegrad
(2.8/5 based on 95+ reviews on the web)
, also known as Stonetown, is a cultural, administrative, and educational complex built by film director Emir Kusturica and dedicated to Yugoslav novelist and Nobel prize winner Ivo Andric. The town's architecture is a mixture of various historical periods and styles--Ottoman, Byzantine, Renaissance, and Classicist. Pass the main gate to the pedestrian street, which features a souvenir shop, gallery, jewelry store, bank, bookstore, cafes and restaurants. Notice how a caravanserai, a Turkish roadside inn, stands next to a Byzantine palace. The concept of the project is to show how the town of Visegrad would have looked if all of the town's rulers had invested more into it. Our Visegrad vacation planner makes visiting Andricgrad and other Visegrad attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • Emir Kusturica's idea was to create a cultural Citadel, is still incomplete, but the effort is admirable. There are shops, restaurants, bars, cinemas and theatres. It was supposed to be a city dedicated to Andrić (his statue dominates in the Center) but behind this statue is a celebration to Serbia. Many are written in Cyrillic, without any translation. Maybe under the statue of Petar II Petrović Njegoš a description would be welcome. At the bottom of the Orthodox Church dominates the landscape. Interesting the scenography for Kusturica's latest film "on the milky road" with Monica Bellucci.

  • Already the journey through the various gorges, which form the rivers Drina, Lim, Piva, Tara, Sutjeska, Praça is worth a visit. Here you are in the middle of the offside of the mainstream. The city Viegrad lies at the mouth of the river Rzav at the famous Drina. Just at this Confluence, Emir Kusturica, the Serbian Felini has built a city, which he used in part for his film projects. It's a Geschichsträchtige place that is worth a visit.
