Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 80+ reviews on the web
Taste wines made in the centuries-long monastic tradition at Tvrdos Monastery. Legend has it that the 15th-century Orthodox monastery was constructed on the site of an earlier church that was erected by Roman Emperor Constantine and his mother, St. Helen. You can still see the fourth-century foundations of the ancient Roman church. The monastery houses a 15th-century stone cellar and a new, modern cellar. Try to recognize the traces of peaches, kiwi, and honey in white wines and cherries or figs in red wines. The monastery also treasures an important relic--the hand of an unknown saint, probably the queen mother of Serbian medieval kings Milutin and Dragutin. • Monastery Tvrdos is located in the vicinity of Trebinje. A very picturesque place, is a monastery of the Dormition of the Theotokos. Particularly known for its monastery wine cellar. Wine in the tasting room pay-1.5 euro per glass. All wines presented at tasting dry-excellent quality with a delicate aroma. A very good time to visit the monastery-the beginning of autumn. .

  • Monastery Duzi place less travel, if you compare with other Trebin′skmi monastery-Gračanicej, territory free to visit quite small as a religious institution believes are all very clean and tidy. There is also a possibility for an additional fee, 1 euro to try local wine which is fairly valued in the Balkans. It's the same wine can be purchased in the shop before entering. Visited Rila Monastery during group trips from Montenegro, first visited Gracanica, guide strongly recommended neither to buy souvenirs and wine in Gracanica, and do so in Tvrdos, souvenirs, that wine in Tvrdos is more expensive.
