Svrzo House, Sarajevo

Categories: History Museums, Museums
Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web
Built entirely from wood, Svrzo House represents an example of an old Ottoman house, excellently preserved and open for self-guided tours. Dating back to the 18th century, the site was home to a wealthy urban family, and it featured separate living quarters for men, women, and servants. You'll see two defined parts of the household--one for the family, and one intended for hosting guests and entertaining. Learn about the Ottoman lifestyle and see typical home decor from the era. Observe the living room's low semi-quadrate seating area, which was the social norm for urban Turkish houses.
